Like many others in our family, Volvo has been a part of my life for a long time. I remember our father getting his first Volvo, a 1966 122S while we were living in Knoxville. A foreign made car in the hills of east Tennessee made for great conversation. While Dad strived to take care of his car, it was quite a challenge for him with four boys learning how to drive on it.
After moving to Pennsylvania in 1978, I graduated from Greensburg-SalemHigh School and then enlisted in the United States Navy to see the world. There I was trained as a machinist and hydraulics mechanic. Four of the six years that I served were onboard the USS Nitro, an ammunition ship at the Earle Weapons Station in New Jersey. Life was interesting as I travelled between the east coast and Europe. I also met my wife and best friend Rebecca while in the service.
My big brother Ed asked me to come to work for him after my discharge in 1985. Since I had a passion for cars and tools, I readily agreed. I started out by pushing a broom and have worked most every position in the business since then. After 23 years I am now our systems administrator, which translates into computers, networks and anything else that needs repair.
ScenicChesterCounty in southeastern Pennsylvania is now my home with my wife Becky and our daughter Adelyn, who is a student at the University of Pittsburgh. I am proud to be part of the business that my grandfather started, still based on the Christian faith and principles that he instilled in us.
